Drum King wanted to come out with me and get some spots for the table. We started a little after 7:00 and fished until a little after 12:30. We had a stupendous time together. We caught 34 fish total, 20 spots, 4 Lm over 12", 6 Lm less than 12" and 4 other species. Bandits and Beavers mostly. On riprap, of course.

I caught a 2 lb 4 oz Lm, A 1 lb 15 oz LM and another that was 15 1/2 in. We didn't weigh that one. Dickey took 9 home with him to eat. We kept trying to catch that last one to fill out the limit but we lost at least 4 or 5 in the last hour that were good eating size. I lost one Lm that was probably 3-4 lbs unless I "bigeyed" it too much.

DK kept up pretty good on numbers but I seemed to get the larger ones today. He said it was because he didn't use any "skunk" smell on his lures like our fat friend. He thought he didn't have a picture today but he forgot about the redeye!!

Interestingly, the spots are running larger lately. We hooked up with several today that were 13-15".

great pics.i would like to personally invite you to fish the nickajack cff event next month.

Cool pics guys. Looks like fun ... OH I Can't wait to get back to fishin this fall. By the way .. DK did a better job of takin your picture than you did of him and his fish MB. What's up with that??? :)

It is always my blessing to get to share the boat with you for a few hours, MadBomber! You sure do know your stuff when it comes to rip-rap. Just let me get you on docks though!!

I just can't understand why the "fat" fellow can't seem to catch any fish with you. What's up with that?emoScratch I didn't have any trouble at all catching your little pet fish.emoBigsmile Let's do it again before the water ices up.emoGeezer

I have read this thread a couple of times wondering why everyone that fishes with you catch fish... you take me and just about skunk every time... Don't you like me anymore?emoScratch You take DK and supply him with all the fishing equipment and put him on fish and then make fun of me... what's up? and like I told you this AM I ain't been fishing in 2 weeks and I am about to fish in my pants.... that's pretty bad.... However, now that things are settleing down maybe I can go sooooon.... DK, did he not have you sitting far away from the bank like he does me? maybe that's the reason I can't catch um like you did...There is coming a day that justice will be served... and that's not too far off. Just whiz a bandit by his ear a couple of times and MadBomber gets the message really quick. He kept me in good position nearly all the time. I would point out the big fish for him with a top water bait and he would come behind it with that silly little beaver and catch it.emoBigsmile We really had a great time and would have had 2 limits of nice spots if we could keep those suckers from unplugging at the boat. I didn't check that lures that he gave me to use, but they could have had the barbs removed for all that I know.emoUpsmile

I was keeping up with him in numbers, but he caught all the big fish. I did miss the biggest fish though.emoUpsmile emoUpsmile emoGeezer

I know another great place to kill the spots all day long is on the upper upper Hiwassee above Hwy.60 bridge.Use small buzzbaits on the shade banks, which you kind find the shade banks all day long up river and you will have lots of action on the spots............................

I am suprised you didnt catch any grief over taking some fish home to EAT especially some BASS. I guided for two fellows out of Mississippi and they took home 9 bass and I got crucified over a photo of those fish in a cooler. My mistake.

Sounds like you two had a great trip with lots of action.

they are taking home small spots to eat.... not L or S mouth.. you need to understand that where they were fishing it is eat up with short spots and it is taking away from the L/S mouth population.... we are trying to get everyone to take'um and get them out of that area.... We take none of the others out of there.... FAemoGeezer

These were spotted or Ky bass, not largemouth. We released all LM and SM bass. Spots are a different story. Too many of these critters in our waters. We are trying to get the limits raised and get other fishermen to take some home to eat. They are delicious. Had those fish last night. Yummy.emoHungry Bass fishermen are so conditioned to releasing all fish that they won't even take a spot home for dinner. We would have better SM fishing if the spots were reduced. May be too far gone for that now, but we are holding out hope.emoGeezer

What we are hoping is that, next year, after you get your 15 crappie and your 20 shellcrackers, you will go get 15 spots, too!

Bigfish if you or your clients broke no laws and they wanted some fish to eat then you should tell the folks that crucified you to get over it.
Jesus was crucified for doing nothing wrong too!

I'll have to buy a couple of lures, but I just might help you get rid of those spots downriver. The 15 limit on Crappie doesn't bother me at all. That's about all I want to clean when I do keep fish. I'll be glad for the 20 shellcracker limit although I can't for the life of me figure out why they would ever put a limit on these fish or bluegills either. That limit doesn't include bluegills does it, Rsimms?emoQuestion emoGeezer
