As some of you know I joined the pro staff for Dobyns Rods a few weeks ago. I now have 5 rods in various actions I can tell you about. Two of the rods are 6'8" MH extra fast action rods (683C's), two are 6'8" MH, mod fast rods (685CB) crankbait rods, and one is a 705C which is a Mag heavy 7' extra fast action. The first 4 are from the Champion series and the 705 is from the champion extreme series. The 683's were bought to serve as multi purpose rods for lures like spinnerbaits and traps. I have been fishing them heavily for the past two weeks and I am really impressed with them. Fishinvol has tried them as well so he can vouch for the quality of the rods. He has even caught some fish on one of them which is a miracle. The rods are light with split grips and the tip action is great. Chris can throw a trap farther on the 683 than I have ever seen him throw anything. Very sensitive. Of all the rods I have fished these feel like a cross between a Loomis and a Shimano Cumara. I bought the 685's for small crankbaits and jerkbaits. I can throw a 1/4 ounce small crankbait approximately 100 feet on these rods and the feel is great. I have already caught several 3+ lb bass on these rods and they handle really well. Its very easy to keep a bass on even with small treble hooks. The casting is certainly aided by the Curado E7's I have them paired with. IMHO they are the best reels on the planet and I am not sponsored by them. The 705C is a brute. It is a very comfortable, effective weapon although Mag heavy is a little much for 1/2 ounce jigs. It will make a great frog rod or grass flipping rod.

All of these rods are made with Fuji Alconite guides which are the best on the market. Dobyns is coming out with his new line of rods in february so there are some awesome deals on existing stock while it lasts. $249 rods are going for $119-$149 each. If you are interested you can buy them at www.deloscustomtackleshack.com. No tax, free shipping and usually gets to your house in 1-2 days. You can also go to www.dobynsrods.com for more info.
