So I assume this will require more energy from Chic Dam? If so, I would also assume we can expect more regular, and constant flow from such. SHOULD produce better fishing? Anyone have a thought / fact / opinion on this?</font></div></font></div>

I saw that.... the article I read compared this to Dupont during their peak. Stating that Dupont used a maximum of 40 Megawatts ... this new VW plant will use 80 once it's in full production..... looks like we'll be seeing a lot more steam coming out of those cooling towers at the nuke.

Sorry Erik, but I'm pretty sure that the equasion is pretty much rain=water flow above minimums. Wish it were different, but who knows, maybe this time next year we'll be praying for the rain to stop so the water flow slows some! The midwest sure had that problem this year!

I see your point. I guess I look at it right now, and when the air-conditioners crank up on high, TVA cranks up the turbins to accomodate. Wishfull thinking I suppose? emoLaugh

wishful thinking i think. they are preparing to complete watts bar unit 2. this will make up for the additional power needs.

>Rain = water flow < rain = > coal

Yup, if we don't have the rain we ain't gonna have increased flow. The storage reservoirs in NE TN are already getting sucked down below the flood guide real fast.

And you can eventually add >nuke to the end of your second equation...

It'll suck.

All I've been able to think about since this announcement is the increase in traffic on the Chick. Don't get me wrong - I'm glad we're getting it - but all we need on that lake are more jugheads.

You know I never even thought about a increase in boats due to increase in jobs .. more jobs = more people moving to Chattanooga .. and more boats on the water .. well for a couple years we will be ok , but its not just VW jobs .. lots of VW suppliers will be locating in the region to supply VW.. and now that VW has inked the deal .. more will be looking at Chattanooga as a viable place to add facilities .. this deal has made not just local and regional news but world news .. I have family in Ireland that emailed me about the new plant.. and wanted me to send them info on Chattanooga links and such.

My Uncle works for a European car company as a engineer that has been searching for a possible location for a US plant to produce cars for the North / South American market he wont let me say who what where yet .. and since the announcement of VW here they are looking at possible research facility and or manufacturing plant in Chattanooga
