have their four wheelers taken to a service shop to get the oil changed, or do you do it yourself? If you change your own..what kind? I have a polaris 425 and was wondering what route I should go. I've had this fourwheeler almost two years..so I'm thinkin it's WAY overdue by now.

Thanks

Uh, yeah... it needs it. It shouldn't be any harder than changing the riding lawn mower... just unscrew the plug in the pan on bottom and let it drain when it's warm. Then on the manual and the guy in the service dept suggested 10w/30. Even went further to suggest Castrol. Either way, I'd probably be changing that oil by now!!! LOL

yeah...it hasn't ben ridden much though in the past two years...only hunted six times last year, but still shame on me for letting it go this long...

thanks:)

Do it yourself it's no big deal. Dealer will probably charge $50 or more. Polaris puts out a good manual so you should be able to look in there for direction. Might be hard to find the filter now though since there is no Polaris dealer in Chattanooga anymore.

One thing though, make sure to create pressure by squeezing the oil sending line, becuase if not then the motor may burn up. It will tell you about it in your manul. I like to use the belray thumper motor oil. Always seemed to make it shift better.
