Does anyone reload shotshells??

Careful- anyone reloading for profit could be subject to collecting a federal tax. I looked into reloading several years ago as a sideline and chucked the idea when I found all the gov't red tape involved. Buy the components and use someone else's reloader. If you make contact with someone, make sure their reloader will handle steel or non-lead shot.

I reload all of my shells for ducks and geese. I use the Lightning steel 2 manual, and RSI loads. The Lighning steel loads are all 7/8oz and 1oz. loads 1560-1760fps. Precision reloading has everything you need, as does bucks run sports which carries all of the RSI components.

Should have read the thread a bit closer. I take it you have your ownh reloader. Will it handle steel or the other types of shot. My Mec reloaders predate the newer types of shot.

With steel, speed kills. you will not be able to get the speeds of factory shells in hand loads. My father and i reload thousands of shells a year and it just dont work with steel. Lead however is a different story

RSI has 3" 1oz loads that are as fast as 1775fps. Reloading steel with alliant steel powder allows you with ease to achieve faster speeds than factory ammo well within SAMMI specs and max psi"s. I shoot a 3" 1 1/4oz load thats 1500fps this has been verified on a cronograph. If I wanted to experiment with new hulls and spend the money to have loads pressure tested for safety I could easily cook up a load faster than that, that would be be within specs. Just about any factory load can be duplicated. Been reloading steel shot a while now
