Thanks guys.........I know about alot of other holes also, but this is more than likely posted for people that dont have much time to scout or prep an area or would like to take a tike or noviceemoThanks

That is why I like AEDC lkolb, its a fat boys paradise being its perfectly flat!! Yahooo! All kidding aside, you can walk 50 yards off the road there and have a good chance to kill a bird. I know from expieriance that having to haul lots of gear, and two chairs, a blind and so-on, flat ground where you dont have to walk very far is a huge help.

emoLaugh ya, Im only 24 but when I spend a day chasin those ol' birds up and down the sides of mountians all day I feel bigger and older than I really am. emoBigsmile Let's see how many suggestions we can get on this threademoDance

Do the North Chick Gorge property and Hiwassee get alot of hunting pressure opening weekend ? Are both thought to have a pretty good bird population ?

I'm looking to take my 9 yo with me and I'm a little hesitant to do it on public ground (at least opening weekend). I had some jakes get between me and another hunter that I didn't know was there one time on public ground and got a pretty good peppering...

Thanks...

BV, since AEDC is so large, get a map, study it for the right place, and then just dont park in sight of anyone else. There are so many areas that a person cannot possibly come in on you from any direction except from your parking area.  I am not kidding, they have one of the largest populations of birds I know of. Another good way is to setup a blind in the middle of one of their fields in a patch of trees or hedge rows...your should be hundreds of yards away from the closest place a hunter could sneak into your location, and I have had some luck doing that. In any case, at 9 yrs old, I would absolutly suggest a blind of some kind. They can move around, and even make a little noise without ruining your opportunity. I would be glad to mark some areas on a map if you like too. Good luck! Oh and take pics and put up a report! With or without a kill, I love to read them all.
