Went out Monday morning to take a little break from LOW water fishing. I went with Jay Jones to an area near Sale Creek. We got there around daylight and began by setting up on some fields where turkeys have been active recently, but they weren't there. After a lot of walking, setting up, and calling we finally found some active Toms. Within a short time, we had 4 or 5 different birds gobbling back to our calls. Suddenly, we had turkeys gobbling very close to our position which was beside a trail leading to a clear cut. We got into place in the thick stuff along the side of the trail, however, we didn't have a chance to put out the decoys. After a little more calling, here came two Toms towards us up the trail in full strut! I was slightly behind and to the side of Jay doing the calling and didn't expect two of them. Jay fired first at about 20 yards and dropped the first one. The second one immediately flew up about 50 feet in the air, then circled back down and landed just a couple of yards from the downed bird. I quickly put that one to sleep! I guess he was going to flog the one flopping on the ground.
Needless to say it was a great morning hunting with Jay and getting the double! emoThumbsup

Forgot to put it in the report....The bird I shot was right at 19 pounds with a 10.5 inch beard. It was about a 3 year old bird with 1 inch spurs, one of which was broken off at the tip. The one Jay shot was nearly identical except for being a little bit heavier and both spurs were intact.
