Dr Phillip Gawthrop repaid me for some of the striper, crappie, catfishing trips that we have taken for the past few years. Took me dove hunting this afternoon. We hunted from around 4 til 6 pm. I had a blast.

After missing the first 10 shots, Phil asked me which one of my eyes was the dominant eye because I was shooting about 4' behind the birds. After I closed the eye that was causing me trouble, I started hitting doves. I actually shot my limit. Took me about 40-50 shots to kill 15 birds though. First time that I have actually hunted in 25 years. We took 2 limits of birds home, cleaned them and I will be having deep fried boneless dove tomorrow night.

Don't ask me where we hunted cause I haven't the slightest clue. It was a field on a farm somewhere about 30 miles from Chattanooga, maybe more. We are going again in the morning and after the hunt, I might go fishing. emoBigsmile emoGeezer

Sounds like you shoot better than me Dk! Was there many folks on your field, or just the 2 of you?

Spur, it was just the 2 of us yesterday afternoon. There were lots of birds and we were in the perfect spot on their flyway to the field. I'm not that good of a shot, but I did get lucky after I closed my eyes. emoUpsmile

Report from this morning. Same place, but the birds weren't near as many and didn't fly as close to us, but we managed to get 9 doves and 3 pigeons that the farmer wanted us to shoot. I only shot 22 times and I think that I downed 4 or 5 birds. My shooting is still rusty to say the least. A lot of the shots this AM was at the limit of the 20 gauge that I was using. I'm going back to Crappie fishing. At least I can shoot those little jigs under the docks. emoBigsmile emoGeezer
