I'm new to Ooltewah and will be looking for a place to dove hunt. Don't mind leasing and would prefer a place close to the house. Any recomendations?

Sir, you are in a very large boat with thousands of men and women that are looking for the same thing. The best advice I can offer, is to look for wma's near you or find a local farmer that would allow you to hunt. I have offered people free farm labor, money, guns ect. I have never dove hunted anywhere but shoulder to shoulder with other desperate hunters on our local wma's. Dont mean to be an ass, but good luck!

I have a milk run of about 6-7 dairy farms in the Sweetwater area that usually produces at least one good field for opening day. I know that`s a little ways from you but most are within a 5-10 minute ride from I-75 so an easy ride anyway. I have had many many good shoots over the years at these places.

Any of those farms have pigeons? Been looking for a farm to do some serious pigeon control. Heard dairy farms are a great place to start.

Go to www.tnwildlife.org for a listing of TWRA lease field for dovehunting. They will usually be posted a couple of weeks before opening day. My son worked in Chattanooga for a while- he and some of his friends went hunting somewhere off Hixson Pike or Hamil Road. Fields change from year to year.
jcs79, just go to the farm and ask permission. Sweetwater is one of the big dairy areas in TN. Tell them how you will observe all THEIR rules. I was raised on a dairy farm; pigeons can ruin many bales of hay on the top layer.
