Well I am happy today. I caught the LARGEST fish I have EVER caught in my life and my good friend DRC doubled with its twin. You can see from the pics where we were fishing and all were caught on fresh skippies today. The bite was HOTTT today. We arrived at 9 am and around 10:30 my rod bent over double in the rod holder. I picked it up and immediatelly i knew i had a big fish on. I use 30 lb line so my drag was set pretty loose. I started fighting my fish and meanwhile drc reels in a 20 lber and set him free. He then got the net and came up to the front of the boat waiting for me to get this thing in...and then his rod bent over double and started just ripping off drag....while he was fighting his mine started coming up but decided it wanted to go over and say Hi to his fish. They proceeded to get wrapped around each other about 3 or 4 times. Daniel was able to get his rod under and through mine ( while it was pulling off a bunch of line) and get them untangled. All i could do was hold on to this thing. Then both fish made another run for the bottom. I dont really know how long it took but mine came back up again far enough for Daniel to see him ...and then he got excited. Thats Right HE got EXCITED!!!!! I knew I had something at this point since I have seen some of the posts of BIG fish he catches on here. He said ..Wade you have a VERY large fish on buddy and put his rod back in the rod holder and was able to get mine in the net and hand the net to me. I didnt think I was gonna be able to pull it in the boat it was SOOO heavy. I went to pop the circle hook from his mouth then I thought hmmmm this sucker could probably break my hand when I saw how large his mouth was. I could put both arms in its mouth up to almost my elbows!!!!!! Then I got him out of the net and was able to get Daniel's fish in the net and got him in. They bottomed out the 50 lb scale so we didnt get a weight but trying to give a fair guess we figured both of them to be 70,s or possibly 80 lbers. I know Daniel has caught some very large fish and he said they both were the largest he's ever had in his boat. MAN WHAT A DAY!!!!!!!. We caught around 20 fish today all were in the 15 to 25 lb range except for these 2 fatties that just made my YEAR!!! My goal was to catch a 50 lber this year and by golly I did it. AND THEN SOME!!!! Daniels goal is to get a 100 lber and I really beleive he will do it soon. Special thanks to DRC and Fishing Machine for showing me how to catch these BIG cats this year. Its so great to have this forum and have the opprotunity to meet guys like this and catch some really nice fish. thanks so much guys!!!!!!

Dog gone it! I was over there bass fishing in the exact same place! I see now I should have been fishing for cats. Those things were scary guys. You shouldn't post pics of fish that big on here, the kids will have nightmares tonight just thinking about it! Man that current was really ripping out there today. The boat was getting pushed downstream pretty hard so TVA must have been pulling water big time. Nice set of twins!

RE: DRC and WLG catch twin Obese CATS

Well' what else can I say? This is definatly a trip I won't be forgetting soon (or ever). The weater was about perfect, the cats were very active and we both caught our biggest fish, not much left to ask for (except that 100lberemoPoke ). The only downside I see is that it's gonna take a miracle for either of us to boat a new personal best... if you call that a "down side"emoLaugh . When I do hang into that 100+lber, I hope WLG is there to drag it into the boat for meemoToast .

Holy Mackeral ... or should I say Holy Blue Cat!

Two, count 'em... two monsters! A couple of big fish as well. emoLaugh

Congrats guys.... I was down at the Dam this evening. Obviously I was 14 miles too far South! I just caught three or four 15-20 lb. "dinks." emoWorthy

RE: DRC and WLG catch twin Obese CATS

Probably one of the best catfish doubles in history. The amazing thing about those fish is they are probably older than the two fisherman. Amazing.

Daniel, you are the man!!!!

RE: DRC and WLG catch twin Obese CATS

Yes he IS the man..or should I say the KING of the big Catfish. Man ..what a DAY!!!!! I cant get over it!!! I told him we will be old and in the retirement home still talking abouit this day!!! I am soooooooooooo honored to get to fish with these guys on here. It has been a life long dream of mine to catch a fish this size.emoWorthy emoWorthy emoWorthy DRC...CATFISH KING!!!!!!

RE: DRC and WLG catch twin Obese CATS

I dont mind at all. if fact I appreciate that. I was telling Daniel on the way home it sure would be nice to tell our story to Richard and maybe he could do a write up on it sometime. IF you had time??? I am not a very good writer or story teller. I am a good mechanic. ( at least I like to think so) emoSmile

DRC and WLG,

IMpressive guys! That really makes me want to get a boat! Way to go guys, what a dream come true, can't beat that!

those are some incredible fish! it never ceases to amaze me what that stretch of water produces. way to go guys, and i'm sure that must have been a thrill to have 2 monsters on at the same time. emoToast

W2G there DRC and WLG. I have a scale for weighing deer that I think you guys need to start taking with you. Seriously!

If you have a couple 50# scales you can take a peice of mesh like those cargo holders in a lot of vehicle trunks, Cradle the fish in the net and hook two scales to the mesh. Two people will need to lift the fish and watch their scale. make sure that neither scale bottoms out. Add the totals of the two scales for a total weight( as 47 lbs and 43 lbs = 90 lbs)

Did you guys get weights of those big sows?

" WOW " WHAT A DAY emoThumbsup Congrads emoToast It's going to be hard for anyone to beat a day like that. emoWorthy emoWorthy
Couldn't have happened to two nicer guys. emoThumbsup emoThumbsup
You two have raised the bar emoScratch
