Before anyone thinks I'm an anti-livebait fisherman, Both of my PB largemouth and smallmouth were caught on live shiners. I picked up a couple of 6" floating, shallow diving crankbaits (similiar to Rapalas) that I thought would be good candidates to use instead of live shad. My question:

Has anyone compared dropshot rigging where the lure is tied directly to the main line to a three-way swivel arrangement where the lure follows the main line 18 or so inches behind the main line?

I'm thinking of using the boat drift (either using the wind or the TM on slow) to induce a slow wobble to the crank bait. A shad minnow that's almost dead will just barely move as it tries to swim.

Of course, this whole plan is to find some other way to fish the deep humps without wearing myself out cranking a DD22.
