With personal issues going on we had not been on the water since CFF #9. Headed to some lighted docks we have visited frequently this summer. Right after dark, I hook our fist big fish, but broke him off under the dock. Shortly after that, I skipped under the dock again, and after a long struggle, put our first fish, around 4.5 pounds in the boat. Fish was extremely long with a huge mouth, but unfortunately, a small belly. After that, our dock bite died.

Around midnight, we moved to a second lighted dock in another slough. Dusty hooked, then lost a keeper as it jumped in the air and through the hook. Not to be outdone, I did the same exact thing shortly after that. We continued to fish the dock, as I think we both caught a short. I then kept noticingsome movement around the front of the dock, which led to our second keeperin 12 FOW on a texas rigged Lake Fork Fry.FInally headed to our last spot, where we may have gotten a single bite untilright at 1:40. We moved to some isolated grass and Dusty and I got bit at almost the same time. Icasted back and as I was about6 feet from the boat something hammered it. Tried to geta solid hookset but the fish came unbuttoned. We spend our last seconds trying to get that needed bite. Then we had to hump it back to the ramp and made it with seven seconds to spare.

Brutal night for us. Congrats to those who weighed fish. Ithought that 4.5 was a decent fish until I had to weigh in after Jerry and Todd with their 8+ pounders.

Report seven, lol. DNW. Now keep in mind this is the 1st night TX I've fished in probably 15 yrs. Went right to my juice and there were 2 boats sitting right on it! Tried various nearby spots and I had one solid 3 plus and 2 shorty's pitchin a lipless crankbait to 45 degree chunk rock on 6 FOW right at dark. Ran up Wolftever and hit what I think was a floating wood pallet. SLAM goes my motor out of the water. I couldn't get on plane and put it in reverse to dislodge it and stuffed the back of the boat under water. Pumped out and took off. Later after looking things over, I found a large 2X4 wedged between my Talon and motor. With no water leaking into the boat I felt safe I had no holes or torn out bolts. Fished relentlessly with everything I had tied on and just couldn't hook up on anything after dark. Loaded out at 1:45 in shear disgust and headed for the house where, my bed was the best part of the night. See ya'all at Sullivans-Day tournament Yeah! Congrats to the top finishers.

Thanks for the report and congrats to the winners. Fished Saturday night as well and really struggled. Partner caught a few short fish and missed a couple of bites. I caught 1 small keeper and missed a couple of bites. The past few weeks have been really tough and not getting bites in any of our productive areas. I guess this heat and lack of rain is really having an impact.
