Well, we were worried that our consistent bite was diminishing, and it was. Got to our first spot and within 5 minutes hooked a short largemouth on a swinging head jig that measured 13 inches. 30 minutes later, hooked a largemouth on a topwater that was one of those that measured one time, just short the next. Having confidence it would not matter, we let him go and continued fishing. Dusty then caught a short fish on a crankbait and we went another 45 minutes without a fish. Moving down a rock bank with a post sticking out of the water I threw a topwater that struck the post then the water. Bam! I hooked the fish and we got him into the boat. Smallmouth! She measured 18.50 inches with a weight of 2.95 pounds. Shortly after that I had a keeper come off at the boat on a shaky head. Then the well ran dry. Shortly after we made a move to our second spot, and saw plenty of fish, but could not get a bite. Finally agreed to make a long run and went to our third spot, where we again had a few small bites but no fish. Finally around 12:40 moved to our last spot. Dusty caught our second keeper at 1:30 on a jig and we simply ran out of time. I felt another 15 minutes we could have caught that third keeper. Congrats to all who caught them.
