The original plan had been to pre-fish for two weeks, but we had to cram it into one. Upon take off we started out on a popular flat throwing a crankbait and a topwater. We caught a few shorts before I caught our first keeper on a MR-6. 15.5 inches on a diet. Right at dark we headed to a second spot and started fishing somedocks. This was made difficult because of thedock owners of a particular dock. When we first got their the lady ran down to the dock with her dogs, barking at us, sat right where we were casting and starting feeding the fish. This went on until the storm chased her inside.Between that and the quick moving storm featuringthunder and lightningwe spendover an hourin an empty slip. As soon as the storm passed us by, we went back to the docks and Dusty quickly got two keepers in the boat. When we did hook a fish, the next challenge was getting the fish over two sets of cross-members. All of this on a spinning rod because that was the stealthiest way to get to them.Homeowner is more or less using his dock as a honey hole for when he fishes tournaments in his big dollar rig, so he surrounds the dock with everything he can to keep people from fishing under it.After that I got our biggest fish of the night, close to five pounds. We alternated between two docks, with Dusty catching a keeper on the second dock, but the fish on it were much more tentative, and even harder to get to. Meanwhile, I had two fish, including a dandy smallmouth ($$$), come off trying to pull them across the cross-members supporting the dock. We stayed a this for some time, losing many hooks and baits on the dock, as we could seemonster bass underneath Gar on this dock. Bad for us, good day for stock holders in Trokar and Berkley.

Sitting in the slip hurt us time wise, but I was not about to challenge the lightning, nor explain to my better half how her brother was struck by lightning under my watch. The big key to this was being able to skip under the dock from a distance, as we learned a few weeks ago. When you get right on top of the dock it spooks them, and you will only get one.
