We started out first and after dodging a ski-boat idiot on CFP headed to our first spot. Quickly started catching shorts before I caught the first keeper, a 15.5 inch largemouth that looked as though it had not eaten in a month. Put him in the live well and a short time later I caught a 13-inch spot on a drop shot in 14 foot of water. We kept fishing at a particular school and kept coming up just short of the 15 inch length. Right at dark we hit some docks and Dusty hooked a good fish on a spinnerbait that came unbuttoned. Less than a minute later I caught another 14 3/4 inch fish. We then kept moving to dock I had caught a 5lb a week ago, and caught the 4lb fish and another fat fish just short. Kept catching short fish on worm and spinnerbait until the storm made us move across the river to empty slip and wait it out for nearly 1.5 hours. Headed to CFP where Dusty caught 3 more on a spinnerbait, culling the scrony fish we had. At that point, we decided to keep the spot and take our chance. Paid off in Big Spot and a surprising second-place finish. Fish caught on topwater, worm, spinnerbait, and crankbait.
