We started out the day as boat 14 and chose to remain in the park early to see what the weather was going to do. Went to our first spot and after 15-20 minutes Dusty hooked a good fish on a Red Craw crankbait. As he hooked it I noticed she did not jump, just kind broke the surface, which made me think she was big. Got her to the boat, in the netand she had swallowed the crankbait. Dusty cut the treble off and luckily the bottom hook fell out the mouth, as I was concerned it was deep hooked. Put her in the livewell and fished for a long while with no luck and the bank growing crowded when I noticed the birds. Not just the birds but also the large fish busting the water near the birds. We moved to the middle of the slough and Dusty asked me what color lipless crank to throw. I gave him my opinion and 3-4 casts later he hooks another good fish. Get her in the boat and the rattle trap more or less falls out of the fishes mouth. After that, I tied on a lipless crank of the same color and within a few minutes I had hooked 2 fish, both just short of measuring but easily over 2 pounds each. Dusty then hooked a small fish before hooking our third keeper on the same bait. This was our longest fish but not as heavy as the first one. We now had a limit at around 11am. Then the rains came. I got a little wet and with the wind was miserable. We went to a boat slip and I sat and dried out for 15 minutes or so and put on proper clothing. Headed back out and fished a bank in CFP as the rains and wind finally slowed down. Went back to our spot and Dusty caught one more on a different colored lipless crank. We then headed in thinking we had 10 pounds or so but unaware at the shoulders on the biggest fish. We were lucky that we did not lose any fish that we hooked up.

Weighing in, we moved to first and stayed untilLarry and JJ weighed in last, whichknocked us down to second. We are both grateful to have been blessed to fish today, and even more blessed to have been able to weigh in some good fish.I wish I had properly sized my rain pants, but other than that it was a good day.
