I was bored the other day surfing the internet and came across these articles on the B.A.S.S. site concerning the drought. They talk alot about Georgia and TN fisheries.Looks like this lack of rain may help the Largemouth population in the next couple of years.I was shocked at the percentage of Spots compared to Largemouths in Lake Lanier.I wonder what those percentages are like in our area?

It made for a bumper crop of good grass in Nickajack (the drought) so let her be dry!!!

Interesting articles. Perhaps it will help the shellcrackers to come on strong also. They like similar things noted in the articles. Warmer water, shallow bedding areas etc. Thanks for the info.

Back in the late 80s when the Nick and Chick were very hot, we were experiencing a mutli-year drought and warm summers. I can definitely tell that the dry weather helped the grass grow on the lower end of Chick this year. I think not having a big spring flood helps the spawn as well.

Hey wormhook, we need you to start bringing up some of that "good grass" from Nickajack so our lake will go back to what it used to be. It's doing well now, so if we can add the extra vegetation it may be just what the doctor ordered.emoAngler

Screw that idea. Leave that grass where it is! I don't want to see it spread. If you want grass go to Guntersville or Nickajack. I have learned to fish it good enough not to be miserable but I still prefer fishing where there is no grass.

Same here, it is easier for me to catch adult bass without grass. But if I want a change, then I can fish Guntersville or the lower part of Nickajack.

I grew up fishing weedy lakes in the northeast. As many others on this site have attested, I have no doubt that weeds improve a fishery. The few grass patches I know of on Loudon and Tellico are almost always good for a few fish.
