fished near the house today in piney river section of watts bar --within 1 mile of home. Had to wait for the first run of storms to get through. Started at 10 a.m. Tried for crappie for a few minutes (brush in 10 - 12 ft of water) caught 1 in 30 minutes. Switched to bass. Ended up with 12 between the two of us -- two keepers. Fish caught in 2 - 6 foot of water near stumps or brush with small crankbaits. Water temp 55 - 57 degrees. Got a call that storms were coming in. We had time for about 30 minutes --- wind started picking up ---said we had one more spot to try. Rocky point dropping off to deep water. Fished about 5 minutes and I threw out my crankbait -- bam. Fish got it but it wouldn't jump or come to the top. Possible a stripe or hybrid. No --- a double. First picture is of two fish and crankbait. Second picture is larger fish by itself. Weight was 5 lb 1 oz. Got back to the house just in time before the storms hit. Just had a second line of rain hit --time 5:44 p.m. eastern. will be back on the lack tomorrow. Also if anyone knows about Tims Ford -- I am going there next Tues-Wed with 6 - 8 others. Ramp is near Estill Springs where we will launch.
