Carl Guffey's post the other week about crappie stake beds gave me an idea and today I started the process of constructing one. This took me about 5-10 minutes to figure out how to attach it, but I had this project finished in a little over 30 minutes. All that is left for me is to figure out where I'm going to plant this. I plan on filling the bucket with big rocks or concrete. I will remove the handle before planting it to minimize the hangup potential. You won't visually see this even at winter level without sonar. I doubt that I will give out gps coordinates either. emoBigsmile emoGeezer

Those things look good Dickie, another place to find the crappie this summer. Here is a suggestion, put two more smaller pieces about four foot long in an x pattern to keep the things from turning over once you drop them in the water. These could be added in the boat with a cordless drill, this way you could haul quite a few of them in the boat at the same time without them taking up a bunch of room.

Great suggestion, Doc. I will do this.
