Dr Phil called me and told me that he had to be off the water by 10:30 this AM, and asked if I was interested in trying to catch a fish. With cabin fever at peak, of course I said yes. We were the loners to put in at Tyner Lane.
We hit the water just before 9 and got in almost 2 hours of fishing. Here is the report.
Weather: cloudy, slight bitter cold wind, murky water, but not too bad in the river.
Water temp: 40.5
Lures: Bobby Garland and Panfish Assassin
Only color they would hit: Monkey Milk/tail light, and green moon panfish assassin/tail light on 1/32 oz jig heads
Presentation: dead sticking. Fish on or near bottom.
Results: 3 keepers (12.25 inch) and 3 nine inch fish, one with a lamprey eel attached. Eel is now extinct.
Location: Bluff most of the time and 1 dock for a very few minutes just before quitting
Observations: saw lots of fish on the graph in both locations, but with the water temps being what they were, the fish were very sluggish. We each missed a couple more bites on the bluff that we should/could/would have had if everything was perfect.
Solunar times: major peak at 4:40 AM, so we missed that one. Minor peak at 10:50 AM, so we were off the water before then. emoBang
We saw several other people out fishing today that must have had cabin fever too. Didn't get close enough to talk to any of them though.
After 58 crappie in January, we are off to a blazing start for February. Looking for some early Spring. I have so many things that I want to fish for this year, how can I ever get it all in?
Bucket list for 2014: Catch a tarp bluegill.
Catch several yellow perch for the freezer.
Put Candi on a 20+ lb Striped Bass.
Take some new people crappie fishing.
Fish with EricM.
Fish with Labman.
Catch a 3 lb Black Nose Crappie from Tims Ford.
Catch a stupid Walleye from anywhere.
Take Mrs Drumking fishing more this year.
Fish the Dog Crappie Tournament.
Win AOY in the CFF bass tournament season. emoPoke emoPoke
Catch a tarp LM or other specie so that I can get the MA III award from TWRA. (it takes 10 different species
and I have 8 at the moment.
Have a great time with the students from Chattanooga Christian School the middle of this month.
Other things too numerous to mention.
