Phil and I got out this morning and fished from 7 to 10 AM for crappie. We did good. We landed about 40 total with 11 keepers going home with Phil from 11 to 13.75 inches long. We had about another 10 or so that were 10", but they were released to spawn this next season. Crystal shad with a chartreuse tail light was the ticket today. We used both 1/16 and 1/32 oz jigs and fished docks. On deeper docks, we fished with the heavier jigs and on docks that were around 12 deep, we fished with 1/32 oz. Seems that most crappie were deep, nearly on bottom. We did catch a few at an 8 count, but most were 14 to 20 count deep.

I will be doing double duty today. Cuonthelake is picking me up at 12:00 at WT ramp for another foray. We may stay in the creek, but will go where ever she wants to fish. Looking forward to a fine time with her. emoBigsmile emoGeezer

You are STILL the King!
Thanks for the report. I thought you were "too old" for double duty!

Yes, I don't even know how I had time to go to work before I retired. Busy all the time now. We need to have another trip together, maybe next week. Let's watch the weather and let me know what days you have available. I am pretty much open all next week.

Nice looking fish!! Glad to hear that someone is catching something. My last trip was a bomb, but I was fishing for bass, not crappie. Caught a few, but not as many as I would have thought. Thanks for the report Dickey, I may have to do some crappie huntin'!

Good report DK.....Maybe some will start showing up under the docks on Tims soon....Everytime I read one of your reports I think about how far it is to Chick....Gonna make that trip soon....Thanks for reporting....

Glad to see you are finding some crappie, DK. Since the Island Cove tornado,
to now, crappie fishing has been nothing short of horrendous. Last year, I
smoked fish all summer long, regardless of the temperature. I salute the crappie,
they obviously had meetings, made plans, and decided to go to new places, where
I don't fish. Enjoy it while you can, Crappie. Make no mistake,
I will find you, and have my way!

Thanks for the report and as always the information. I know nothing about crappie fishing this time of year, but you did help me a couple of years back in late fall out on the river and I really appreciate it. See you on the water......Jim

I always appreciate your encouraging words.....Better days will come for crappie fishing! I am looking forward to it! Thanks again for pulling an overtime, and fishing with me! emoSmile
