Despite the threatening weather, 29 boats turned out this Sunday AM for the 10 annual Forgotten Child Crappie tournament that benefits the less fortunate families in the Tri-State area, with children at Christmas time. Last year over 6300 family/kids were given toys for Christmas that they otherwise would not have received. Thanks to all the participants for your generosity and for the fine turnout for the weigh in that took place at 1:30 PM.
Brian Howard (Wolftever Kid) and his partner, David East (Crappie King) took first place honors with a 7 fish limit that weighed 6 lbs and 15 ozs. Their hearts were as big as the skill they have in catching crappie as they gave back the $400 cash prize to the Forgotten Child fund. Congratulations Brian and David. You guys are a tough team to beat. I know how hard you work at it. They also won a one year membership to Towboatus and other prizes.
2nd place went to the team of Michal Hyde and his partner, Adam Bible. They narrowly missed winning the tournament. Their 7 fish limit weighed 6 lbs 13 ozs. Good job, guys.
3rd place went to Bobby and Tabatha Ramsey with 7 fish limit of 5 lbs 15 ozs. They also had big fish for the tournament with a 1 lb 10 oz slab.
4th place had the team of Mike and Allison Johnston with a little help from their children, Kayley and Connie taking this spot in the competition. Their 7 fish total was 5 lbs 11 ozs.
5th place went to Ron Crawford and partner Debbie Griffeth whose 7 fish total was 5 lbs 8 ozs.
Congratulations to all the winners. There were gift cards, rod/reel combos, tackle boxes and other gifts awarded to the winners. Additionally, Towboasus donated one more membership in a general drawing that all were eligible to win. I'm sorry, but I don't have the winner's name.
Chattanooga Fire and Police department provided hamburgers and hot dogs after the weigh in and KZ-106 with Scott Chase was there with a live remote broadcast of tournament results. Benny Hull also was there filming the weigh in. Thanks Scott and Benny. You guys went above and beyond and we are delighted to have you with us this year.
