Hippy (Dave Ohms) and I have been trying to get together and fish for a couple of years now, and today, we finally made it happen. It was an ideal day to fish. Water temp 58.8, cloudy skies, no wind, cool air temp, but not cold and fish were red hot. We caught our fish in 4 different spots. 2 off shore structures and some deep brush out of the river. Why can't fish bite like this during a tournament? emoBang
We started off in the river and found a school of fish on some deep brush and proceeded to catch them until we made them mad, so we went to the next spot. It is one of my favorite off shore structures, but today, all we caught was one keeper fish. I just couldn't find them on this large structure. So, it was off to the creek to fish deep brush. We hit the mother lode. We caught 18 keepers for Catfish1 and Captain Hazmat, but that was after I caught 10 crappie plus 1 spotted bass for my family fish fry that is happening tomorrow. Then we caught about 11 keepers for Hippy and he caught the biggest Warmouth bass that I have seen. It was nearly as big as some of our keeper crappie. It was near a dock just off the main river bend.
We threw back several 10" fish and cauight several 9" fish. We estimated that we landed around 65 fish or so. Great day to be on the water. I passed a boat that looked familiar to me while in the creek and told Dave that I think that I know this guy. So, I stopped and called him on the phone and asked where he was. It was tp44 and he was out getting a lesson on his Lowrance graph. They didn't even have rods in the boat. Oh my! We chatted him up and one of the guys from Soddy Custom tackle was with him giving him an education on graph operations. emoBigsmile I need some of that myself. emoUpsmile
Hippy and I had about 12-14 doubles on today. It was unreal. Our biggest fish was a 13" black and a 13" white crappie. Dave, I enjoyed taking you fishing today. It don't get much better than what we did today. That many fish in 1/2 day's fishing ain't too bad in my book. Bobby Garland plastics rule Chickamauga. Chartreuse colored lures in 1/16 oz jig heads was the main attraction today fished on a 10-12 countdown. emoBigsmile emoGeezer See you on the water Friday.
