I fished with Debbie Bileu in the CCC crappie tournament that was held on Saturday instead of the usual Sunday. We had a great time and I had opportunity to teach Debbie a little bit about crappie fishing. She got pretty good on dock shooting. She wasn't too sharp on the bluff fishing with the current that we had. Grin.

We just went fishing as we didn't get a chance to pre-fish at all. I hadn't crappie fished in almost a month. I was doing other types of fishing and deer hunting, honey do's, going to Christmas programs, etc. But we did manage to eek out 6.02 lbs for our 7 keepers. We did cull one fish. emoBigsmile We did catch several under 10" fish. They are fun to catch, but when you are fishing a tournament, they don't do you any good. Debbie did manage to catch the only non crappie of the day. A nice white bass and it was on her last cast before we had to go to the weighin.

I caught our two biggest fish on a bluff in an eddy current. We caught the rest of our keepers under one particular dock. We wasted a lot of time running up to Possum Creek. It was like the dead sea. One short fish is all that we caught up there. Surprising, as we nearly always catch fish up there. We didn't spend much time up there though.

There was a bass tournament going out of HBSP this am, and there were boats everywhere. Some of the places that we wanted to check out had 2 or 3 bass boats so close to off shore brush, that we wouldn't bother those guys. They were probably fishing for big bucks. emoUpsmile We were just having fun.

My hottest lure was a 1/32 oz Panfish Assassin 1.5" Crystal Shad with a tail light. Fished that under the docks that we fished. I caught the 2 keepers on the bluff on a Bobby Garland Blue Ghost and a Crappie Dawg lure and I'd have to ask Mike what the name of the color is. It had a chartreuse belly and purple back. It was fun seeing everyone at the tournament site. Had great fellowship before and after the tournament. emoGeezer

Glad to see you out there DK. Kinda funny.... I had just asked some one about you. Turned around and there you were. Thanks for the report.

Great to see a DK post again about crappie fishing! WTG,Dickey! I haven't crappie fished in months, been chasing fatties and smallies, that's all Pete Jr. wants to do and he's got me fired up about it. Hope to see you on the water again soon!

Glad you were able to give dock shooting instruction to another crappie fisher. Thanks DK.
