The 9th annual Forgotton Child Crappie Tournament was held today out of Harrison Bay State Park. We had 15 boats participating in the event and I'm sure that more would have been here if the weather hadn't been so brutal. Wind was terrible, but thankfully, no rain to compound the problem.
The winners of the tournament was the team of Thomas Henshaw and Ashley Showers who weighed in a great bag of fish topped off by the big fish of the tournament, caught by Ashley. Her big fish weighed 2.75 lbs and was a hog slab. The total winning weight for the team was 8.40 lbs for a 7 fish limit.
Brian Howard (Wolftever Kid) and his partner David East tied for second with 7.40 lbs and won the coin toss which settled 2nd place. Losing the coin toss and finishing 3rd was the team of Cody Benton and Dennis Edwards. Congratulations to all the winners.
TowboatsUS donated a year's membership to the winners of the tournament. Channel 3 Outdoors donated a couple of fine spinning reels to the 2nd place team, and Hamilton Sports Shop donated a rod/reel to the 3rd place team. We want to thank the sponsors for their generous help in making this a successful tournament. We want to thank the Chattanooga Fire department for providing hamburgers and hot dogs for those who participated and who gave toys. Thanks, Kelly, for all the hard work that you and your co-workers did in making this a successful day for the kids.
A final thanks to Jim Edmister (Catfish1), David Ohlms (Hippy), and Groomer for their tireless labor in getting this tournament organized. It was a great tournament. Thanks to the ladies who checked us in and did all the paperwork. You made this a smooth operation.
There were many toys collected for the Forgotten Child fund and we want to thank everyone who donated, whether they fished or not. Several gave money and toys to the kids. Thank you.
I will be posting pics just as soon as I receive them. There was much fellowship among all the fishermen and it looked like everyone had a great time in spite of the tough fishing conditions. emoBigsmile emoGeezer
