Well, wouldn't you know it? Fat Albert canceled our trip this AM, but John Faulkner was an able bodied replacement. John actually caught more fish than FA would have anyway. emoBigsmile

FA begged me not to get on him too badly, so I won't cause I know how it is when you are a taxi for the grandkids. Grandkids come first, even though you have known old friends twice as long as you have known the grandkids. emoPoke emoBigsmile Don't get on that guilt train, Albert, cause it is going to no where.

Back to the fishing report. John and I found some crappie on off shore structures and caught a few despite our late start. The fishing had already slowed down by the time that we started. But we managed 16 crappie, 2 spots, and 1 smallie. The little smallie was bleeding so badly, and even though we threw him back, he soon came back to the top and is now probably in the belly of a Blue Heron. I hate it when a beautiful fish like that is injured so badly. No TARPs today, but 13.5 inches was the biggest.

We saw Fishing Machine and Chatterbait up river along with great grandpa. They were catching a few fish. Chatterbait told us that he caught his first bass all by himself. Good going there young man. emoToast

The wind got up and John and I decided that as old as we are, that it was time to go to the house and get cool. emoBigsmile emoGeezer

We caught 2 spots as well as the little smallmouth.

We all feel bad when something like that happens, but you have to release the undersized fish. Well, ospreys and big catfish need to eat too, I guess!!! Nice day to be out!!

Good to see you 2 guys fishing together again.
Thanks for the report. You know FA would have only caught ONE!

I agree with CU on the experience factor, wish I had a bent penny for every hour these two gentlemen have wet lines together. As for the expired smallie, why do you think so many turtles recognize DK's boat and come uptopwater to fellowship with him?
