I called Bassert last night and asked him if he would like to go fishing with me this AM. That's like asking a thirsty man if he wants a drink of water. emoBigsmile He said yes and then we had a coin flip to determine which boat to take. Mine or his. I didn't have a coin in my pocket, so I let him flip the coin and I called it. Heads we take my boat. Tails we take his boat. It came up heads or so he said. I believe him too. emoBigsmile emoTongue
Anyhow, we started out early enough that I had to put the lights on my boat. Ran into EPaul on the water and he allowed us to fish with him for a little while. He caught a nice TARP while we watched him. He watched us catch 13 keepers and 1 throwback crappie and a little smallmouth bass. Then I wanted to leave and fish docks a little bit.
So, we ran upriver to some docks that I know have crappie under them. Most have been sore mouthed by the KID, but we still managed to catch a few, give them a talking to, and released them for the KID to catch again, if he ever gets back out there on the water. emoPoke
We ran into the creek and hit the mother lode of crappie. We released most of our fish, but we met a very nice dock owner who talked to us a little bit and he was fishing with minners and basically doing nothing. We had already caught about 10 crappie in 15 minutes when he came over to see what we were doing. I asked him if he would like for us to keep some fish for him and he was anxious to get them. He loves to eat crappie. So, Pat and caught 12 more for him before we left to fish other places.
I gave him a 10 to 15 minute crappie lesson and hopefully, he will learn to catch fish on jigs. I offered to take him out sometime and teach him how to fish. He might take us up on it too. We told him about the forum and encouraged him to join so he could read the fishing reports. We will look for him.
The fish were mostly on a 14 to 20 count today and suspended under the docks in very dark water. We used 1/16 oz jigs with Bobby Garland plastics on them. Silverfish and Firefly were hot for me. Pat caught some on blue ghost and other colors. I'll let him tell you what he fished with. We quit by a little after 11:00 this AM. 43 keepers, 1 smallmouth bass, and 3 throwback crappie. Great AM of fishing and fellowship with a great friend. emoBigsmile emoGeezer
