I called Bassert last night and asked him if he would like to go fishing with me this AM. That's like asking a thirsty man if he wants a drink of water. emoBigsmile He said yes and then we had a coin flip to determine which boat to take. Mine or his. I didn't have a coin in my pocket, so I let him flip the coin and I called it. Heads we take my boat. Tails we take his boat. It came up heads or so he said. I believe him too. emoBigsmile emoTongue

Anyhow, we started out early enough that I had to put the lights on my boat. Ran into EPaul on the water and he allowed us to fish with him for a little while. He caught a nice TARP while we watched him. He watched us catch 13 keepers and 1 throwback crappie and a little smallmouth bass. Then I wanted to leave and fish docks a little bit.

So, we ran upriver to some docks that I know have crappie under them. Most have been sore mouthed by the KID, but we still managed to catch a few, give them a talking to, and released them for the KID to catch again, if he ever gets back out there on the water. emoPoke

We ran into the creek and hit the mother lode of crappie. We released most of our fish, but we met a very nice dock owner who talked to us a little bit and he was fishing with minners and basically doing nothing. We had already caught about 10 crappie in 15 minutes when he came over to see what we were doing. I asked him if he would like for us to keep some fish for him and he was anxious to get them. He loves to eat crappie. So, Pat and caught 12 more for him before we left to fish other places.

I gave him a 10 to 15 minute crappie lesson and hopefully, he will learn to catch fish on jigs. I offered to take him out sometime and teach him how to fish. He might take us up on it too. We told him about the forum and encouraged him to join so he could read the fishing reports. We will look for him.

The fish were mostly on a 14 to 20 count today and suspended under the docks in very dark water. We used 1/16 oz jigs with Bobby Garland plastics on them. Silverfish and Firefly were hot for me. Pat caught some on blue ghost and other colors. I'll let him tell you what he fished with. We quit by a little after 11:00 this AM. 43 keepers, 1 smallmouth bass, and 3 throwback crappie. Great AM of fishing and fellowship with a great friend. emoBigsmile emoGeezer

I am glad to see those clouds moved in so The Kid won't go and sore lip all those crappies before I get a chance to get back out there again with you!! emoLaugh Does look like the hat brought you so good fishing results, but in all honesty don't you think autographing was just taking it a little too far! emoScratch
If your dock owner student listens to the masteremoTeacher , he won't need you to catch 10 slabs in 15 minutes, those are some awesome numbers for the day. I am still waiting on one of those kinda days! emoThumbsup

Fishing with the Drumking.
Yes, I had to flip a coin and yes it was heads so we took DK's ride.
Be there at----, so I was there at ----.
As I drove up in the driveway, I parked and got out and DK was there in the truck ready to go.
I was loaded into the truck and we were in the water by dawn's early light and running to our 1st spot.
Someone was there, so we figgered we outnumbered him so we were allowed a position to fish from.
Of course, DK starts catching crappie immediately and I was the slow start. He was using a silver queen and I had blue ghost and outlaw.
The technique was simple shoot, pendulum, dead stick and catch fish.
I tried to give more action to mine and after netting 5 or 6 of DK's fish, I slowed down and accidentally caught a few
emoApplause
DK started to try different "secret lures" and would catch fish on everything he threw.

We docked up and didn't do well when we decided to move up to some areas I haven't fished much.
We got on 'em after that and we enjoyed one of the master's honey holes and as he said we had FUN! emoAngler

DK was quite the great host today and I had a few lessons and learned a few new tricks, tips and ideas.

I had a great time and I always appreciate my teacher for what he does for us.
We were Ambassadors today and the generosity and the love of fishing made it easy for us to encourage Pete to try something new. We highly encouraged him to join up on the CFF.
I know I do this all the time and so does DK

DK provided me with a much-needed fix for my fishing and I am thankful that he would do that for me.
Thanks DK for a really nice and fun day.

PS I just can't address the shaving thing he has emoCrazy emoGoofy

I just wish I could have been a lure in the boat hanging out hearing and learning from a couple of the pros out there! YOu guys make the :emoticon:logo a wonderful place for learning! emoThanks

Talk about a lot of crappie expertise in one boat, the fish ain't got a chance! Pat, I am beginning to wonder if Dickey doesn't have some magic potion he secretly puts on his lures the way he outfishes everybody.

Enjoyed those two great reports from Both of my Heroes, so glad that you guys had a go-get-em kinda day, I need that kind of fix myself right now on the whites. There was a famed PA crappie magnet man who lives in the WK area that posted just last week that he felt those docks should be holding fish,he was right, wish somebody could talk him into going crappie fishing again before he gets too rusty(hint DK). Looks like BassERT broke out a couple of new (to me)secret weapons himself with that split tail. All these new colors are putting a hurting on the specs, been doing a little experimenting myself, just havent had the time to try more of them,I have been experimenting with two tone heads and jewels.Mr B did you bring him a sausage bisquit? That backseat still fits your backside well I noticed(haha). At least DK took his Bodyguard with him to enter the NO DK Zone emoEnforce . As for the shave deal, I really like it myself, kinda always been your trademark there Mr B, as long as are catching fish you shouldnt change a thing!;)

Why can't you guys wait till I can come out and play! Surely yall have yardwork to catchup on,
or you can pick up trash on the river banks. Great idea DK, I thank you guys in advance for your
good work.
