Dr Phil and I made it out this AM at the crack of 8:30 or so. Phil's wife, Brenda, came along for the ride and to watch us to see how we were catching fish. Too much pressure right away. But, the fish were very willing to bite today. Cloudy with slight north wind blowing and the air temp wasn't bad at all.

We fished from 8:30 to 11:00 and landed about 52 fish, 33 of those being keepers. Dr Phil and Brenda took home the double limit (30) fish. I went home fishless. emoBigsmile I have fish in the freezer. We caught our fish both extremely shallow (the first 6 keepers) and then mid depth (6-8 feet) and finally deep (15-20).

We fished JR slough to begin with. A few more days and the fish will be jumping in the boat there. Then on to deeper water where we caught them on a big stump on a main river drop off. The deep fish came on a deep drop with brush along the side to bottom of the drop. Fish stacked in both places. Finished up on vertical structure and fish were active there as well. Very good 3 hours of fishing.

We caught our fish on Crappie Dawg Marti Gras and Bobby Garland Love Bugs in 1/16 oz. I also caught several on Crappie Dawg Emerald 1/32 oz. Korngrinder makes a great crappie bait. I recommend that you get some. My brother-in-law is coming in the morning to fish. He needs some crappie for his freezer. Hopefully, the fish will still be there and active. I may have to go into the creek and harass a certain troller who is pulling orange and green thingys behind her boat. I won't name names.

See you guys on the water. Enjoy the pics. We didn't take very many pics. Too busy taking them off our lures. Biggest fish was 13.5 inch white crappie. We had several slab blacks 12" or more. emoBigsmile emoGeezer

I don't know what happened to my pics. I downloaded them, resized them, but when I went to post them on CFF, the file was gone and I can't find it. First time this has happened and I don't know what could possibly have gone wrong. So, I conclude that this is just a fishing tale. You know what I always tell people.

Candi to the rescue. I had sent the pic of my biggest fish today to Candi, a 13.5 inch white crappie. After my computer lost the pics, she sent the pic back to me to post on the forum. So, hopefully, here it is.
