NOAA called for 69 degrees today in Winchester, cloudy skies, south wind, so Rick and I decided to go way upriver and fish for Walleyes. We didn't get a bite up there. I did manage to get the skunk off the boat with a small largemouth bass about 13" long. After about 2 hours of fishing, we decided to pull the boat back out and drive back downriver and fish for crappie.

So, that's what we did. Too bad, but the crappie didn't want to play today either. We scanned 4 docks and found fish stacked up on them. But only caught 1 at each dock. Rick did manage to land a nice Smallmouth Bass in the 2.5 to 3.0 lb range on a crappie jig.

Oh, did I mention that NOAA lied like a dog. The only place that it was 69 degrees today was probably in Florida. Thank goodness, I changed my mind about wearing shorts today. I would have frozen my .....off. Rick and I shivered all day and finally decided to quit fishing early. Good plan. That worked out really well. I got home before dark and I can hear my recliner calling my name as I type. So, good evening everyone. I will check back on here before I go to bed. emoBigsmile emoGeezer

The water temp was 50 to 51 degrees at Tims. Water had a little stain in it and it was high, but they are slowly lowering the lake. We released all fish. The biggest crappie was only 13.25 inch black nose. Pretty fish. We never did feel any fish bite today. They were all very subtle and visual strikes. Line went slack on a 25 count a couple of times. Line just twitched on a 10 to 12 count one time, and line went sideways on a 6 to 8 count once. Set the hook and caught 4 fish. That's the way it goes on a bad moon phase. emoBigsmile emoGeezer

EricM skunked... Drumking almost skunked. The moon and the stars definitely were not aligned today. Thanks for making me actually feel good about being at work for a change. emoBigsmile

You sure have making a lot of trips up there, Dickie. Even though it's not a "hot spot", I've always loved fishing there.
Talked to a guy at Mud Creek last week that lives 15 min. from there. We agreed on one thing-if you go there-expect to catch less than a dozen fish. But, they will usually be good ones.

Well i don't know what to say. It wasn't much better on Sunday either. Hopefully it will get better soon.

Sorry for the slow catching day. Thanks for sharing the report and pics. I am not going this week and your reports help hold me over until I can get back on the water.emoThumbsup

I'm glad that we weren't the only ones to find it cold and the fish not biting yesterday. I was thinking that it would warm up sooner or later but it never did. I went looking for a big bass but we only caught a couple and they were only in the 3 to 4 lb range. Fun but for some reason the fish were really turned off on Chickamauga too. Thanks for the report.

Thanks for coming over Dickey. At least we got to explore a new place. Looks like they had to shut the water off and the lake is rising again.emoBang
