I noticed that when FA gave DK that new crappie rod, there was mention of a special handle. That was the first time I had read about that.... enlighten me CFFer's. What's the skinny on this fabulous product. You guys have turned me on to so many new things this past year. I thank you all for your contributions here. The humor. The input. The sincere manner in which we all help one another. My wife thinks I'm an alien. You guys are my "Men in Black". I relate to MOST all of you. You've enriched my life. I hope I can give a little back in the coming year. Happy New Year.

Support our Troops!!!! My son goes to Iraq in March. He just got back from Afghanistan on Feb. 21st. Don't let politics get in the way of those who serve us this coming year. They are great people who do the unthinkable. Not just my son. All the son's and daughter's serving this great country. And that HAS to mean better fishing in '08!!!!!

I like to profess my personal goals for the upcoming year to close friends of mine. They hold me accountable. Since most of mine are scattered and you guys have been surrogates... here are a few of my goals. Please make sure that I achieve them this coming year!!!!! Tight lines guys. emoUSA emoUSA emoUSA emoUSA emoUSA emoUSA (goals attached, you'll get the picture)

the rod handle for DK's rod as well as my own Fat Albert "crappie sniper special" is hi tech CARBON FIBER . its not
cheap but well worth it . much more sensitive than cork and just as light if not lighter than the best cork handles !
you can feel everything on that bad boy ! even the texture of concrete with a 1/32 oz jig dragged across it emoWorthy

my other custom rods from John Miles have hand turned graphite handles and while they are just as sensitive as
the carbon fiber they are much heavier. either way i will not have a cork handle rod in the foreseeable future.
while i dont profess to be a very good fish catcher both the graphite and the carbon fiber handled rods have
most definantly helped me catch more fish this year with the increased sensitivity over cork

Carbon fibre is graphite is carbon fibre. A carbon fibre handle is nothing more than a graphite handle. It is a polymer made from petrochemical by products. The carbon fibre is light and strong and very sensitive. It is hot in the sun and slippery when wet. It is more expensive than some cork but less expensive than others. The reason you don't see it more I believe is because of it's sliperyness and of course the price.

well there i go learning somthing new for the new year allready emoBigsmile . well to clarify then the rod on the bottom
pic is a solid type handle and the FA rod is a fiber type wraped around somthing attaching it to the rod (fa told me but i forgot ) they are more slipery when wet and they tend to suck the heat away from your hands.
the trade off is more than worth it for the extra sensitivity imho emoBigsmile

I have never owned a rod with a carbon fibre handle. I am however heavily into very light, sensitive fishing rods. If I ever find the right one I will buy it or maybe even have dear Al make me one.

cheeze you might as well go ahead and put your order in with FA now. mine is a 5-1/2 foot and tips the scales at
3.4 oz

i would love to get out on the water with you so you could try it out but you could probably get out with DK before
i get a chance to get out. that is if you can get out of his hands off of it long enough for you to try it emoTongue
