Going duck hunting in the morning. I'm hunting a swamp that the ducks stay in overnight. I've been hunting the outer edge along a wooded creek that they tend to follow when they leave the swamp. My question is should I go into the swamp that they are in and set up decoys or stick to the outer egde. I'm afraid if I bust them out before daybreak they won't return. emoScratch

stay on the outer edge and pass shoot'em, if you go into their roost and shoot them you might only have 1 or 2 good hunts. But, if you stay on the edge you should have consistent shooting for several hunts, as long as nobody disturbs the roost (sanctuary). A few years back I had a beaver pond the ducks hung out on during the day, we would sit along the creek about a hudred yards away and shoot our woodies, mallards, and the occasional gadwall. Some other hunters found the beaverpond the following year and now its only hot the first few days of season. Good luck on your hunts.

Like was stated. Hunt outer edge until last couple of days or you could "shoot the hole out" and the ducks may not use it the rest of the season.

I can show you if you let me tag along? ;) ...No really! shoot me a pm if your in chattanooga and we'll hook up.
