Rough morning on the water here. Hunted near Cottonport. We killed 1 woodie, missed a couple more, but only saw one group of high flying mallards. I think the ducks are staying north and west this early in the season. Topped off rough morning with 2 flat tires on the boat trailer on the way home. This duck season can only get better!
I will post pics later. We had our limit of mallards fairly early and had ducks flying all around us all day. We missed one real buff mature woody and seen abunch of divers but they were to far out. Sorry about ur trailer tires man, I know the feeling.
sounded like a war broke out behind my house at day break, my wife call me and said whats going on back their.i told her it's duck season. i must have been the only one back in their deer hunting
GAFisherman: I know you dont want to give away your spot, but what general area were you in? Spoke to a lot of other duck hunters about the opening weekend and nobody saw that many mallards except in the WMA's and Im not a big fan of hunting the duck "stadiums".
We were hunting a cove that ducks have to fly over to get from the fields to the coves. I'm up in jefferson city past knox so it might be different there. We saw a bunch of mallards so I guess that is the ticket!
