Went this morning and saw nothing. Not to mention walked all the way to the spot on top of the ice. The whole place is locked up about 4 to 6 in thick. I heard johnson bottoms was the same not alot of food also.

I haven't seen or heard many dicks flying over my house this year. In past years they flying over a bunch and would see and hear them while deer hunting.

I would love to, but (as usual) work is really gettin in the way of the things I REALLY want to be doing....I did get a good report from a buddy today that there are increased numbers of Mallards showin up...

Yep I hunted we would have killed several. Got there after walk in time one truck in the lot. So we walk in and shine our flashlight don't see anyone. So we head to my first pick of a hole. Get set up throw our dekes 20 min later one guy comes in. No problem stops at our spot and tells us he is going back behinde us. That would be great we won't call or shoot your swinging ducks ok. So he does just as he says goes and busted out a hole in the ice. Then his buddy shows up. I guess he didn't like being back there. So they walk back towards us. Then they set up around 20 yards from us. Oh well sam rules still apply I thought. So we get a good group of big ducks starting to work at first light. The want in our hole about 4 min before legal light. One more pass and it will be time so they swing wide and turn and lock up. Ok they are on a string now oh and the other guys kept calling at them. So they are now about to finish and the other guys decide they need shoot. So they kill one out of them then leave shortly after. But at least they gave us the duck they shot. We stayed till almost 11 and had a couple more fly but nothing worked. I bet we saw four or five groups of guys hunting.

I was kinda supprised for a tuesday. I hope that twra goes to draw blinds like they are talking about. It would help alot of these places out I think. It is about to the point it's not safe to hunt on a weekend. At least the draw would be on a weekly basis. So you would have a chance every week on getting a good spot.

Johnsons Bottoms I presume?!?!?! Thats why I hate that place! You are MUCH more patient than I am...someone sets up 20 STINKIN YARDS from me, I'm gonna be VOCAL about it!!

Glad to hear you did see some ducks though!

Nope I was on rogers. I haven.t been to jb in over two years. Mostly because of things like this. Rogers used to not get hunted alot in the late season.
I am prety patient but I think I will stick to the river the rest of the year. Most guys that hunt these places are good about not setting up on you. But alot of these new guys buy a dozen blocks and a walmart call and think they own the place. The thing that really supprised me was this man had to be in his 60s. I have yet to run across one of my elders that shown no respect. But to each their own I guess.

I just don't have the patience for public-land hunting anymore, which is why I hunt less each year...people just don't respect fellow sportsman anymore...

Private property is mostly underbrush anymore. Everyone has either logged it built house on it. I remember the good all days where there was land beautiful and full of timber. Now, sorry to say public land is more scenic. If it wasn't for the corp of engineers we wouldn't have any trees around the lake.
