After reading the past thread on capture devices I find that I have been looking for the same thing. One of the guys I work with reccomended getting a dvd recorder that was capable of copying the tapes. He has one and says this is the only way to go cause the plc sometimes locks up if it is not one of the faster newer types. Since mine is of the old type I have been looking at dvd recorders. My question is , does anyone have a brand or type they would reccomend? Thanks.

I cant go that route, my analog is 8mm. Wish I could, that would be alot easier. You can have the tapes put on DVD at places like Walgreens, but they want 25 bucks per tape. I have priced capture devices with the software for 40 bucks and up. If yours are VHS, I would look into a DVD recorder also.

I been checking it out and a couple of the new models have built in capture device on the dvd recorder. I am looking to change 8mm analog also. From what I have found out Phillips has a model out that allows this. It has the regular rca jacks for the three plug cord. Hook the camera up just like you do to the tv except use the video patch cords from the camera to the recorder. It is supposed to capture and digitize the images and burn them on dvd.
