Be careful on the hens. I saw a mother hen with five little duckleans with her by Island Cove a couple days ago. It surprised me to see little ones this late in the year. I hope no over excited hunter shoots momma before the little ones are big enough to take care of themselves. Jmax
jmaxx, Me and my buddy saw the same ones out there about a month ago and we couldnt beleive our eyes either! The normal hatchlings this year were about 3 times the size of those little ones.
I know what you mean on that one. It has always upset me to leave little ones to fend for themselves in early seasons. To this day I remember back when I was younger shooting a big doe by herself during an early muzzle loading season. Now sooner had she gone down then here comes a young yearlean looking for her. It went over and stoud by her body and to this day that bugs me. I know that deer was big enough and old enough to be o.k. but if I had seen it before I shot her I would have passed. Left me a bad feeling about shooting does too early. I try to wait now at least until regular gun season and then I really check a doe out before I ever take aim if I do at all. Jmax
