Electrical Problems

<span style="FONT-FAMILY: Verdana">I was out last Thursday night and when I was returning to the ramp, all the sudden all the lights on the console and navigation lights got extremely bright and then started flashing on and off and finally went out.  All three of the navigation bulbs where blown, and the tac stopped working, and no charging of the battery.  I ran a few tests that were recommended in the manual, and it appears that the rectifier is bad.  The stator checked out OK. </span></p>

<span style="FONT-FAMILY: Verdana">This is on an ‘85 Mercury 60 hp. Was wondering if anybody has any ideas. </span></p>

<span style="FONT-FAMILY: Verdana">It’s $50 for a new rectifier, but it is not returnable if that is not the problem.</span></p>

A faulty rectifier would cause those problems.
