Tim and I fished the last Frost Bite Tx, for 2017. We had a lot of fun with it again this year. Thanks to Gary and Billy for doing all the heavy lifting and putting these Txs. on again this year. If you have never been involved in helping conduct a Tx. event or a Tx. trail you really don't know just how much time and work is required until you do. So once again, thank you Gary and Billy. Tim and I started off great Saturday morning. Tim sacked us a 5 lber. in the first 10 minutes. Then it went down hill and the slow fishing became even a slower grind. I think it was after 11 am when we finally got another keeper. Then we got two more around 1 pm to make it four in the box. We never could get that 5th and last fish. We caught a box full of Stripe trying! Our four fish weighed in at 13 lbs. ? There were four or five bags with 13 something in a row. Our fish came on traps and rigs. Today I went back for more punishment. I didn't plan on going but I just woke up at 5:45 and said why not? I was in the water around 7:45 am. My first fish came fairly early and it was a nice 6.9 lber. Then just like Saturday it went slow on me. I finally did catch two more short fish and two cookie cutter 2 1/2 lb. keepers along with about 15 stripe. Some of those stripe were 2 1/2 - 3 lbs. fish not just those little yellow sand stripe as I call them. After that I just started riding around looking for awhile. Then about 1:45 pm I caught another good fish that went 5.10 lbs. That was s it! I loaded at 2:45 pm because I was tired and trying to avoid the rain. I threw traps, silver buddies, jerk baits, a rig and a spinner bait. I never had a bite deeper than 6 or 7 feet. I saw water temps from 48 to 58 degrees.

Thanks for the report. Good thing your partner bagged the 5 pounder. Traps and rigs seem to be the only method that is consistent.
