Ok I'm looking for something that you would plug into something and charge it up and then it would provide a small amount of power INDOORS in the event of an emergency. With the weather scare we just had and remembering some bad winters in my youth I know we have a chance at this kind of event happening anytime.

As someone who uses a C-pap to sleep I'm scared to death to sleep without it. So I'm thinking I need some kind of emergency backup.
I saw one thing on Walmart a minute ago http://www.walmart.com/ip/29162559?...33582510&wl4=&wl5=pla&wl6=19880599990&veh=sem.
But have no idea if this good equipment or not.

Any suggestions or wisdom is appreciated.
David.

You can use a U.P.S ( uninterrupted power supply ) which is battery back up. They are used on alot for life safety equipment.

The UPS type device(s) mentioned above are used extensively in the computer world. They come in a lot of different sizes/capacities. Most of the smaller ones are designed to provide power long enough for an operator to perform a graceful shutdown of the system. If you're needing emergency power for more than hour or so, a gas powered generator is probably your best bet.

Harbor freight has a small solar kit that i've been reading about lately,It's gotten rave reviews from everyone that's bought it. Add a couple of RV batteries and an inverter and you have free power without gas.

Also watch craigslist, I just bought a almost brand new Yamaha 2000 watt generator for hundreds off the new price from a guy that was in a bind and just needed the money more than the generator. Had to drive to Atlanta to get it but still saved a ton of money.

Two ways to go.. If you want portable get a largest wattage you want to afford Power Inverter to connect to your vehicle battery and power cord to your breathing equipment. The inverter is good for many things. Go Overkill on the wattage...

The best way to assure you of sure power is to purchase a home conversing switch that will allow you to use a Power generator to run selected circuits in your home. The systems are designed for mounted auto starting generator systems so when the power drops the generator kicks on and switches to emergency power. I so happen to have a high quality switching system in the box I would part with for about 100 bucks.

Mine is something like this but more components New in Box >>>http://www.electricgeneratorsdirect.com/Generac-Guardian-RTG12EZA1/p10687.html?utm_source=google+shopping&utm_medium=shop+portals&utm_campaign=RTG12EZA1&gclid=CJayg9Sk8LsCFaTm7AodfUYATg

I got a rechargeable pack at Northern tool around $119.00. It has 120v power. I run my Cpap machine when I go to hunting camp two nights, no problem.
It also has jumper cables, a light and air compressor.

It's great!!!
