I'm having to lower my engine completely down in order to maximize my garage space. I've read some opinions that say "the engine should be supported any time it's out of the water to help relieve the stress on the tilt/trim and transom.

comments?

Trim the engine all the way down, this is a perfect position for storage, lets the excess water drain out. You may be refering to trailering a boat/motor, most people use a motor toter which transfers any shock of a bouncing motor going down the road to the rear of the trailer, this way there is no strain on the trim mechasism or on your boat transom. When the boat is sitting in the garage, there is no strain on anything.
