EricM, Chick, April Fools on me, flathead & channel cats, 4-1-15

I set the alarm to get up in the dark. Not an experience I often have any more. I knew the water flow would be a bit lower today - but not as low as it will be the next few days!! Water level was still quite low and care still had to be taken not to drop the trailer off of the end of the ramp. Off to the catfish grounds!

The blue catfish pulled a pretty good April Fools Day joke on me and completely disappeared! Not a sniff by a single blue today. To whence (nice word, hey?) did they suddenly disappear? Fortunately, I managed my first two channel cats of the year - bundles of raw muscle that just don't give up - and a nice flathead surprised me, also the first one of the year for me. One channel went 8 lbs and the one that came home with me for dinner tonight went 6. The nice flattie weighed 22 pounds after upchucking about 3 pounds of yuck in my boat. Again all were caught on 6 lb line.
