I'm still here, although you wouldn't know it from my fishing reports. Can't report if you don't fish. Well you could, but that would make a fisherman a liar.
FINALLY got out with friend Stuart. I didn't expect much and told him so. We decided to try for catfish at my top-secret hole. They were hard to find, and it turned out that they were pretty much right on the top edge of the drop in the low flow this morning. Stuart put a buck on first fish and I gave him a head start. Didn't help, I caught the first 7 fish anyway, He caught #8 and I got him to hold it REALLY close to the camera, but all that did is make it look like he has really fat fingers. I caught #9 and 10, and we called it a day - and a really hot one at that. Rather than pay me the dollar, he charged me a dollar for the Twizzlers I ate. I still came ahead. (Burp)
Before we left, I just HAD to find out what size the baitfish were that were so thick that the schools were solid red on the h-bird. One throw of the net was good for 3 white bass (one really good one) and hundreds of stupid little shad that all got their heads stuck in the net. Stuart and I sat there and picked out threadfins for hours (10 minutes, but my back said hours). I would say the white bass are schooling up and they will be in action soon if not already. I wasn't there early enough to be able to tell. Plenty of bait there. By the way, don't throw a 3/8" mesh cast net out there right now. Just don't.
Here are today's pics so you don't forget who I am. And no, I'm not as thin as the picture suggests. I think I'll frame this one, maybe put it on a Christmas card................
