First, a follow-up on last week's report: the left index finger that was damaged by a tiny catfish still has no feeling in the side of the tip of the finger and the tendon hurts as it passes through the injury site. This cannot be good. Let's hope it will correct itself with time.

I went out today expecting it to still be a bit windy. Wrong again. It was a LOT windy. I had a terrible time with holding my drifts and generally controlling the boat. I'm not exactly sure why, but two different bass boats screamed by at less than 50 feet - very, very close; in fact, less than the width of my house - and each acted as though I wasn't even there. What was the point of that? The river is awfully wide there and there really wasn't (in my opinion) any reason whatsoever for that behavior. A big boat did much the same, but at a respectful speed and even waved at me, however he too was much too close and bounced me badly in his wake. Do I attract idiots? Oh, wait - Spurhunter, rsimms, jmax, and drumking are good friends of mine.............

Fishing was pretty good although size was a bit on the small side today. I did manage to land (again on 6 lb test) a 20 lb blue and one that went close to 10, but the general size was maybe 3-5 lbs.

And God, who has a terrific - if not warped - sense of humor, chose to hook me in the finger NEXT to the one that is numb. Not deeply, but enough to make me wish it was in the numb finger - but what would have been the fun in that? I'm just glad I have a special appreciation for his jokes on me...........

And, of course, the pic to prove that this story, too, was based (loosely) on the truth:

Vertical jigging while drifting at slightly less than the speed of the current works well for me. What is Santee style?
Note: just looked it up. My rig is more of a drop-shot style with the bait a short distance above the bottom, maybe 10 inches or so, but without the float. Similar ideas however.

Great to see another report from youemoThumbsup

No, it is a fact that folks are ENTITLED to do what they will

Someone said if you stay on pad, your wake is smaller. No one explained courtesy or that you should burn a tablespoon of fuel by giving a REQUIRED distance from other vessels and obstructions. emoScratch
