Even though I am an admitted fisherman, I would never tell a lie about my dear wife. They are taking her to prison this evening. Yep.
Her entire church choir, of which she is a member, is going to perform at a men's prison tonight. I told her that she should shake 'em a little for the boys and give them a thrill................hold on - I will have to pause a moment while the lump on my head goes down a bit and my vision clears......................
So anyway, after my trolling motor disaster, I got a used one that had different broken parts than mine and cannibalized both of them to make one good one again. Who else did I know that broke stuff at least as often as I? Why, Spurhunter, of course. Good deal for both of us. I am back on the water with a fully-functional trolling motor and a recently cleaned bilge (and boat interior........).
At the ramp, I put in the drain plugs, I checked the drain plugs, I checked them again, I backed up to the water, I checked the drain plugs, and I launched while holding my breath. Whew! It floated!!! I kept a close eye on it for the rest of the day. I ran out to see if the threadfin shad were gathering well in the lowered water flow, and anticipated the catfish bite would turn on after noon when the flows increased. Unfortunately, there were not big schools of the shad showing yet, just a couple of bait balls that would probably be difficult to net this early.
I set up for catfish, and here comes Candi to see how I am doing. We had a nice chat (she was on the crappie again today!). I look up and there's Cathooker looking to find a few catfish too. Great to see him again! I fished for several hours while the flow came up. And rather than tell you what I caught, I took a picture so you wouldn't think this was just a fish tale.........
