What a beautiful day to start the spring season! It is only better if you fish, so I did. I had to see if the cats are moving much yet. They have started, but the fishing was a bit slow. I put in about 3 hours today and caught 6 fish, but a couple were really nice ones on 6 lb test line - 35 lb and 28 lb. I even wrestled them into position for pictures - and I need to work out more!

Also today the seagulls were out and I saw 3 northern loons diving on the shad. I love their call. Even an osprey sailed past, making the day even better.

The pics of today's monster catches made it all the way home before I accidentally deleted them transferring to my computer. Poop. Oh well, for those who don't know me, I never let the truth get in the way of a good story.............

ok Eric, what is the line class record for blue cat on 6#? Those are very impressive fish on 6#. Probably makes for a long fight with lite drag setting. It is a challenge for sure.

Regards, Norman

The existing record for 6 lb test is 64 pounds. I have all line and equipment - including a certified scale - that is required by the IGFA. There are a lot of rules to follow to ensure fair play for the catch, but I am familiar with them and have gone through the process a number of times emoBigsmile .

One of the things that disqualifies a lot of catches is that the line breaks above the limits. Few lines actually break at or below the test marked on the label (actually metric weights are used, so there might be a very small variation). I use Ande Tournament monofilament which does break short of the limit - a bit expensive, but I have never be denied a record because of the line. You have to send in the actual line segment used to be tested by the IGFA.

Speaking of line, I'd better remember to cut off what I used today and re-tie.............

Hey... you got to see me too! Surely that's even better than loons and ospreys! emoSmile

My clients appreciated the two "charity cats" you gave them. We caught four more after you departed... unfortunately no "bigguns."

It was great to see you out! emoThumbsup

Hum
glad you got out bud..
