.........and the largest of the day was........, um,........., also 25 pounds. One fish today!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! At least it was a goodun'!!!
As many of you have noticed, I've been notably absent from the fishing reports lately. This whole summer just didn't jell for me and I seemed to have misplaced my joie d'vivre (French for joy of living)(in Alabama it's pronounced Joey Duh Veever and he lives jes' down the road a piece). I hope I am over the doldrums - whatever the cause (maybe I miss all of the surgeries - or the drugs that came with them!). I expect to be a regular with the reports again this fall and winter.
An absolutely BEAUTIFUL morning! Drove to the ramp in the dark and got onto the water as light broke. First pass at my favorite secret spot and this 25 lb blue hammers me. Never had another serious bite after that, just a few nibblers. I moved around a bunch looking for the blue cats and just didn't find any.
However, there is good news - I saw small skipjack at the nuke plant this morning. They weren't coming up much, and when they did they were about 8" long, but it has been sooooooo long since I've seen them out there that I was really starting to wonder. Sabiki rigs would be perfect for them, and of course I had left mine in the garage. The shad they were chasing were tiny, but the bait is thick enough that it fools the depthfinder now and then and it reads 7' instead of 52!!
I wasn't there long when hole jumper, I mean Puddle Jumper, wandered over and chatted for a bit. Seems his Peanut is growing up some and is finding more interesting things to do than go fishing with dad. Don't worry PJ, she's enjoyed the time with you and will be back as she gets a bit older - you gave her a great start!!!
And then, as if things weren't bad enough, here comes Labman and drumking. Of course, since I had one of my baits a foot above the water, DK wanted to know if I had changed to trying to catch flying fish. emoDoh Also, I think we need to take up a collection to help Labman get that toothpick removed that is permanently sticking out of his face. It must get painful 'cause he always has a grimace - looks almost like a smile. Check the photos of him on DK's report. Actually, I love to see folks smile and he sure knows how!!!!
Miss Mary has a list of "projects" that she wants done, so it looks like I'll have to sneak out of bed real quiet-like in the mornings so I can get out more often! Or maybe she'll get another consulting job!! emoBigsmile emoBigsmile
See ya on the water, my friends!!!!
