Last October the wife and I went to the east coast for a week, with less than ideal results involving broken teeth, truck damage and chiggers. Here is the old thread:

Well, we tried it again last week, this time at the Outer Banks of North Carolina with her children and grandchildren. Had a good time considering the grandchildren are now 14 and 11 and are now pretty much embarrassed by the simple existence of OLD people anywhere near them. Of course, that's only when the batteries in the phones go dead and they become aware of their surroundings long enough to find the laptops. Ah yes, those teenage years.
So, other than take naps (no complaints there), I found other things to do. First, rather than back up into a steel pole like I did last year, I managed to scrape a chain-link fence leaving a rather interesting scratch pattern on the gate of the pickup. I have not called the insurance adjuster about that one just yet. I don't have the chiggers to blame it on this time. Maybe I'll just blame beach sand in my butt crack. Always has been a distraction..........
I also pulled that not-so-intelligent beauty of knowing that I needed gas, but passed the exit anyway since the cheaper gas was still in range up ahead. I swear, I wasn't half a mile past the exit and the traffic came to a standstill because of construction - 4 miles ahead. The sweat on my brow wasn't entirely caused by the 90+ degree heat. When I did finally get to the exit and to a gas station, I had either 1/2 gallon of fuel or 1-1/2 gallons, I'll need to look up the size of the tank to be sure. Glad it has a long filler neck................
Then, not wanting to end this east coast shore vacation on a high note, I busted a tooth off that I already had crowned (and paid for). I'm pretty sure that the tooth fairy is going to have to take out a mortgage in order to leave enough under my pillow to cover this one.
I don't think I have enough insurance - or teeth - to go back to the east coast. So what's west of here?? emoDoh
