Hoo boy, look out catfish!! The heart surgeon has released me to use common sense and do whatever I feel good enough to handle. I think maybe I'll actually be kind of cautious and slowly build into my fishing schedule. I run out of breath very easily, although I also recover quickly, and the surgeon said that will exist for a few months. I've also lost a suprising amount of strength and stamina over the last 6 weeks. I start cardiac rehab next week, so that should be a big help.

Maybe I should use my ultralight and 4 lb test for a while so I don't overstress myself. I set the drag at 1-1/2 to 2 pounds. I should be able to handle that! I can always call someone to come help land and weigh those big fish!

I'm looking forward to getting out with some of you who have so graciously offered to take me or ride with me. I am sooooo excited!!!! emoAngler emoApplause emoDance emoBigsmile

you have my cell if you are on the lake and need help don't hesitate to call. Glad you are going to be back out there!

Way to go Eric, glad you are getting out a bit, please don't overdo it, the catfish will wait on you. Doing one of your famous half gainers or swan dives and then trying to get back in the boat would be very trying or you could take your big dip net and your fishing buddy could dip you up and drag you up over the side of the boat. Get better and give me a call if you need any company.emoThumbsup emoThumbsup emoThumbsup

Ummm, seems Mrs. EricM has some different ideas about what exactly using "common sense" means when it comes to me fishing alone just yet. Of course, she doesn't dare beat me in my weakened condition, so maybe I can get away with a few things.......... emoTongue

I know that you are a die-hard catfisherman, but I'm offering you a ride in a crappie boat and promise that you won't catch any crappie over 3 pounds. You might luck into a catfish, but I have a net in the boat. Let me know when you want to go. Glad that you can get out a little bit. emoBigsmile emoGeezer

Yea!!!!! I say go with Dickey, hook those crappie fish, and then just let them swim instead of reeling them in....BIG catfish waiting to strike we hope!
