This question may have already been asked but does anyone know the effects of ethanol in gasoline on your boats engine and does anyone know what stations dont have ethanol in their gas if any?

Price goes up, quality goes down.

I don't think you'll find gas w/o ethanol. Heck, if it's less than 10% they don't even have to label it or tell you (pretty sure about that).

I believe that the ethanol attracts moisture to the fuel, which means you should have a new filter or separator or something, or add a stabilizer directly to the tank like SeaFoam or StaBil.

SAM'S on LEE HIGHWAY does not have Ethanol in their Gas,I talked to the station attendant just this week and he assured.me that they DID NOT!

I just add seafoam to the fuel every tank, all motors can run up to 10% ethanol in the gas. Im not sure but I bet some marinas have gas that does not have ethanol, but marina gas is alot more than at the pumps dont quote me on that though some one else might be able to shed light on that.

I'm guessing the guy at Sam's doesn't know what he is talking about...

I could be wrong but I think about everyone has it.

I work in the oil business, with the price per barrel going up they are trying to add more and more ethanol to the mix and the majority of the fuel suppliers have at least some ethanol content. Ethanol gets worse mileage in any gasoline engine.

here's some info for thought:

70% of a barrel of oil is used for fuels.

Less than 1% of a barrel is used for finished oils like motor oils, grease, and gear oil. Thats why the market for fuel oils reacts alot quicker than that of lubricating oils. Either way its all going up! And the guys at the top of the pyramid are getting rich while us at the distributor level are seeing shrinking margins and increased competition! BTW- Most oil companies are going to see an increase in the price of base oils in May, so if you have a favorite brand, like an outboard oil, now is a good time to stock up and it has a long shelf life! And NO, I dont sell outboard oil-LOL!

There was a good artical in flw magazine last month about this.Ethonol does attract moistier.Thats problem #1. If you boat sits to long the ethanol and gas will seperate because one is heavier then there's a risk of the fuel intake sucking in 100% ethanol. Thats problem #2. they also said ethanol is a great cleaner problem is if its in your tank it will clean it which could result in debris coming loose inside the tank then into the motor. Thats problem #3. if i'm not mistaken they said if there's any etanol in the gas at all the station has to post it. I've seen alot of little white signs on the pumps lately that say"THIS PRODUCT CONTAINS LESS THAN 10% ETHANOL". They went on to say that less than 10% should not hurt anything but to try to avoid it if at all possible. However it's getting harder and harder to find the pure gas. So using a fuel stabilizer may become our only option. One things for sure adding the ethanol has'nt brought down prices any so WHERE'S THE ADVANTAGE????????????

GB, the only, and I mean only advantage is that we are funding farmers and not...Terrorists! But, if this ethanol move pushes through its gonna drive the costs of most foods up and create a whole mess of environmental issues. Farming corn only is not good on the environment. You notice most farmers alternate between beans and corn, the beans replace alot of the goodies corn leaches from the soil, especially nitrogen.
