Hey guys since the exxon in Jasper does sell ethanol free gas anymore and it's getting less places to find it, is there anything ( additives) y'all put in the tanks to help out. I hear ethanols not good good on engines and it's not good to mix it with ethanol free gas. Thanks luke

Stabil Marine for Ethanol is good.

Also, we need to start a new list of the few ethanol free stations left, this will probably be the last of them. The only two I know of is:

Smile Fuels on E. Brainerd Rd.
The Fireworks Store (not sure of name) off of the S. Pittsburg exit just before McDonalds/Wendys

Kanku's at Shallowford and Jenkins Rd. Out of the way for most folks.

Midnight Oil on Bonny Oaks and Express Mart on Sig Mtn

There's a quick mart on the corner of E. Brainerd Rd. and Banks Rd. that's Ethanol free (can buy gas 24 hrs a day w/ credit card) and I believe SMILES on E. Brainerd Rd. is still Ethanol Free also.

Tennessee-Alabama in Kimball has Ethanol free gas. That's were I get mine. I believe it's better gas than the Exxon was.

look up a product called Startron, it's supposed to be good stuff.

I still refuse to put corn in my tank, but when I have no choice, i'll mix Startron....Can buy it at Wal-mart for about 9 bucks a pint....treats several tank-fulls of fuel...

I've been using a product I found at the ICAST show for over a year & have run mostly E10fuel with no problems. It was developed in FL where you can't find 100% gas anywhere. It's called Fuel Medic & runs about $25 a qt. that treats over 500 gal.

I'm getting kind of nervous about the few stations who claim to have ethanol-free gas. I wouldn't put it past some dealers to lie about it just to boost sales. I also don't see how a few ounces of some expensive additive added to 30 to 50 gallons of gas can eliminate the harmful effects of ethanol on older engines. I would likesomeone to develop some inexpensive test kit you can use to detect the presence of alcohol ingasoline.

I think this whole situation is ripe for scams. My local station claims that their mid-range and premium fuels are alcohol-free while regular is 10%. I buy gas 12 gallons at a time and mix my oil in the gas. My dealer hits me for an extra $1.20 every time I buy a little gas. Luckily, I don't burn much gas when I go fishing.

I'm with you MB, I've heard that "legally" they can advertise ETHANOL FREE GAS when it's 10% Ethanol. If that's true we are screwed for sure.
I use STA-BIL most of the time and even have installed an inline fuel filter. My motor is an older model too. I've not had any trouble since installing the filter.

BINGO! I question some claims especially since I was told by 2 local oil companies they will not be distributing corn-free any longer from the Jersey Pike tanks. That was over a month ago and I doubt these gas stations would have it trucked in from another distribution area outside of Chattanooga because the cost for delivery would go way up.

You can test the fuel to easily verify what your buying because the ethanol in the fuel bonds to the water; therefore, causing the water level to rise.

I try to post these instructions on every ethanol thread but it's hard to keep up:

"The only testing kit you need is a cheap plastic baby bottle from a dollar store. Fill with water to 50 ml line. Add 150 ml fuel, to bring mixture to 200 ml line. Mix well. Wait a few minutes for water and fuel to separate. If water line is still at 50 ml line, you have Ethanol free fuel. If the water line has moved higher than 50 ml, there was Ethanol in the fuel sample." Originally posted on thehulltruth.com

I have a few graduated cylinders and I am going to perform this test within the next day or two. We have corn-free gas at work, then I'll test some junk gas and post side-by-side photos.

Connivence store owners beware! The gas police are coming after you! emolaugh

Well, hopefully we'll find additives that work soon, cause I think corn-free fuel will soon be extinct. It has been gone in FL for a while. I have a couple of friends from the Lakeland area that haven't had 100% gas for over a yr. so they are having to find good additives.
