We kicked off our club tourney schedule at Lake Eufaula. What a great place.. we was scheduled to fish all day saturday and half a day sunday... I drove down thursday night and went out and prefished friday.. put in at Lakepoint state park which has a great ramp and parking lot... i had never fished eufaula before so i was pretty much going on looking at a map and a few reports that i had got off the net... started out in the witches ditch which really didnt impress me much except for the gators... man dont fall out of the boat in that place!!! tried spinnerbaits, rattletraps, jerkbaits all for naught... ran up cowickee creek and finally caught a keeper on a plum colered zellamander in some grass. Since this was the only fish i caught i figured that would be where i started the next morning... got up saturday morning and and it rained and rained and rained and kept on raining...my coangler that had drew me, who is reallly a nice guy went up the creek and started fishing... my bilge pump kicked on at least every five minutes... thank god for frog toggs.... didnt catch nothing that whole morning.. finally put on a junebug trick worm and threw into some shallow bushes that bordered the creek channel and got a solid keeper..finally figured out that that was going to be a good pattern and ended up catching two more keepers and a small dink... i told my coangler that i remembered that there was some more of those bushes down the creek and that i was going to run down there and fish them.... turned the key and instead of hearing that sweet yamaha purr i heard nothing... i guess my battery sitting all winter not being used and the bilge pump working overtime run it down...now i was in a mess ... i still had three hours of fishing left but i knew that if i needed a battery to run by bilge pump because it was still pouring and i knew that i couldnt drain what was left on my trolling motor batteries because i needed at least one of them to crank the big motor..... In the end if figured it was better to get back and weigh in 3 fish instead of being stuck in the rain and being late for the weigh in and having none of them count... so we went back to the ramp loaded up the triton and sit in the truck for a couple of hours.... ended up with 6 and a half pounds which put me in second for that day....stay tuned for day two of my great eufaula adventure....lol
